Abstract
If rats on a protein-free diet are starved, the activity of the liver serine hydratase increases. This rise can be prevented by actinomycin, puromycin, or glucose. In adrenalectomized rats, this hunger induction is more pronounced. Cortisone administered during the hunger period causes a significant increase in the serine dehydratase activity. This is possibly due to the utilization of inhibitors of serine dehydratase synthesis during the gluconeogenesis caused by the cortisone. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
