The very pertinent remarks of Dr. John H. Kennell (Pediatrics, 29:848, 1962) are basic to the future of pediatric practice. There are many "new frontiers" for the private practitioner. Emotional health must be of primary concern, both at the teaching level and in private practice. I am sure that future office visits will include an emotional discussion (E.D.) with the mother alone. She will come without the child, to discuss with the pediatrician the "normal" problems she faces in her role as a parent.
