METABOLIC ASPECTS OF THYROID-ADRENAL INTERRELATIONSHIP

Abstract
The rise in O2 consumption shown by normal animals following adrenin injection was augmented after thyroid feeding; in thyroidectomized animals a decrease of O2 uptake was observed. Desiccated thyroid fed to thyroidectomized rats restored the normal adrenin response. The medulla of the adrenal gland thus exerts its calorigenic effect largely through the thyroid.
