Preparation of XeOF3+·Sb2F11–and XeO2F+·Sb2F11–.19F nuclear magnetic resonance and Raman spectra of XeOF3+and XeO2F+

Abstract

The ¹⁹F n.m.r. spectra of solutions in SbF₅ and the Raman spectra of the solids show that the compounds XeOF₄·2SbF₅ and XeO₂F₂·2SbF₅ have the ionic structures XeOF₃ ⁺·Sb₂F₁₁ ^– and XeO₂F⁺·Sb₂F₁₁ ^–, that the XeOF₃ ⁺ ion has the expected trigonal bipyramidal AX₄E type structure and that the XeO₂F⁺ ion has a pyramidal structure analogous to the isoelectronic XeO₃.
