An experiment aortic valve is described which is constructed by division of the thoracic aorta in dog and bivalving of the proximal end. The bivalved end is inserted into the open distal end. Evidence of competency of the valve was obtained in 6 animals by direct arterial pressure recordings above and below the valve in association with avulsion of the cardiac aortic valve.
