Abstract
After confirmation of the intense and very fast myorelaxant effect of theophylline on isolated glomeruli, xanthic reagent myotoxic effects are shown during long contacts with these glomerular suspensions. Isolated glomeruli diameter evolution according to reagent dose (0.25 to 10 mg/ml) and contact length (1, 5, 10 min) was studied. The diameter remained constant for the lowest doses, decreased after the 5th min for higher (1 and 2.5 mg/ml) doses and collapsed in the first minutes for the strongest doses (5 and 10 mg/ml). Pharmacologic and toxic actions are discussed; a hypothesis of a toxic effect at the smooth muscular cellular level is proposed. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
