FAMILIAL HYPOTHYROIDISM*

Abstract

Four siblings, ages 4-10 yrs., had retarded general physical development and markedly retarded carpal development. The basal metabolism rates were all below normal. Six months treatment with small doses of desiccated thyroid by mouth was accompanied by small gain3 in weight, substantial gains in height, and in 1 case general mental improvement.
