Cysticercosis Cerebri

Abstract
WITHIN a period of two years the diagnosis of infection of the human brain with the larval form of the pork tapeworm (cysticerci of Taenia solium) has been made in 3 cases at the Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2 patients with signs suggestive of a mid-line cerebellar tumor, the diagnosis was established by removal of a solitary cysticercus from the fourth ventricle; in the third, with diffuse cerebral involvement, it was based on the history of convulsive seizures and the demonstration of multiple calcified areas in both hemispheres.Cerebral cysticercosis was first clearly described in man by Panarolus in . . .
