Educational Characteristics of Alcoholics. Some Critical Comments

Abstract

Research on the educational characteristics of alcoholics is critically reviewed. Sample data used in research on this subject failed to control or randomize factors of age, occupational level, nativity and degree of urbanization, all of which affect significantly educational attainment. Consequently the hypothesis that alcoholics are unfavorably differentiated with respect to their educational characteristics remains undemonstrated.
