Abstract
-Thyroxine stimulates amino acid incorporation into protein of tissues which also respond to thyroxine with increased O2 consumption. The stimulatory effect as it applies to micro-somes is dependent upon the presence of mitochondria and an oxidizable substrate. The present studies demonstrate this dependency in cell-free preparations of skeletal muscle and describe the characteristics of the stimulatory system in vitro.This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
