Angiocardiography of multiple ventricular septal defects in infancy.

Abstract
Biplane cineventriculography in 364 infants .ltoreq. 1 yr of age demonstrated multiple ventricular septal defects (VSD) in 56 (15%). Among 111 infants with VSD (with or without patient ductus arteriosus), 18 (16%) had multiple VSD, whereas 14 of 39 infants (36%) with VSD and coarctation of the aorta had multiple VSD. The incidence of multiple VSD in infants with tetralogy of Fallot was 7% (8 of 117), in infants with d-transposition of the great arteries 19% (8 of 43), and in infants with common atrioventricular canal 15% (8 of 54). Perioperative axially angled cineangiocardiography correctly predicted the presence of multiple VSD in 13 of 15 infants (86%) who underwent operation.
