Thermal expansion of the noble metals below 15 °K

Abstract

We describe the design of a dilatometer having a sensitivity of about 10⁻¹¹ cm/cm and present some results of its use in measuring the thermal expansion of copper, silver, and gold in the region 4.2 to 15 °K.
