Ibuprofen in Patients with Sepsis

Abstract
Bernard et al. (March 27 issue)1 report the results of a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study of intravenous ibuprofen in patients with sepsis. They conclude that treatment with ibuprofen is safe in these patients and has a favorable effect on fever, tachycardia, oxygen consumption, and lactic acidosis, but not on mortality. We are concerned about this report and its conclusions.
