Abstract
Tolbutamide sodium and cyproheptadine hydrochloride are effective therapeutic agents in the dumping reaction. The incidence of an abnormal or delayed insulin release in two-thirds of the patients studied suggests the importance of carbohydrate metabolism. The variation of the serotonin response and its failure to correlate with the clinical response suggests that serotonin per se is not the critical determinant in the dumping reaction. Keywords
