Urinary 17-Hydroxycorticosteroid Determination with p-Hydrazinobenzenesulfonic Acid–Phosphoric Acid

Abstract
A new reagent system with p-hydrazinobenzenesulfonic acid in phosphoric acid for the determination of urinary 17-hydroxycorticosteroids is described. Use of this reagent results in increased sensitivity of detection of compounds possessing a dihydroxyacetone side chain while it retains the same specificity as obtained with the Porter-Silber reagent. The reaction conditions employed with the new reagent allow the assay to be performed within 4 to 8 hours after hydrolysis of the samples of urine.
