Abstract
Five volatile organic chemical (VOC) and six synthetic organic chemical (SOC) analytical methods for the determination of certain organic contaminants are discussed in this paper. These methods are additions and improvements to methods previously developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the measurement of trihalomethane, VOC, pesticide, and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) contaminants in drinking water. The major changes are the use of smaller sample volumes in some analyses and the increased use of capillary gas chromatographic columns.
