Paramagnetic Fine Structure Spectrum ofCr+++in a Single Ruby Crystal

Abstract

The fine structure spectrum of the ${\mathrm{Cr}}^{+++}$ paramagnetic resonance line in a single ruby crystal has been studied at 300°K. From the measurements it is found that the zero-field splitting of the spin levels is 2 (0.193±0.001) ${\mathrm{cm}}^{-1\mathrm{}}$ and the spectroscopic splitting factors are $g_{\mathrm{II}}=2.003\mathrm{}\pm 0.006$ and $g_{\perp }=2.00\mathrm{}\pm 0.02$.
