Abstract
The technical performance of a modified immunoelectrophoresis is described and the name “crossed immunoelectrophoresis” is proposed for the method instead of “antigen-antibody crossed electrophoresis” used in the original report. The sensitivity and the specificity of the method is equal to that of classical immunoelectrophoresis, but the method is quicker and gives a higher electrophoretic resolution and better quantitative information than ordinary immunoelectrophoresis. Applications of the method to various plasma protein problems are described.
