Abstract
A technique of bilateral hernia repair is described that depends on Mersilene mesh threaded behind the rectus muscles and sutured to both pubic tubercles and the anterior superior iliac spines. Thirty patients were observed, 26 for more than one year. There was one infection, six unilateral recurrences, and one bilateral recurrence. The method is useful for recurrent bilateral hernias, of which there were seven, and for others where difficulty with traditional methods of repair is anticipated.
