Abstract
The Pediatric Emergency Service in municipal hospitals of urban centers are assuming an increase role in servicing as a family physician for the medically indigent families in deprived areas. To avert a major disaster the New York City Health Department moved swiftly and established a Pediatric Treatment facility providing comprehensive outpatient care, including preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic. This facility is also being utilized well and for teaching research and bridges the gap between health and disease.Keywords
