Abstract
Time of synthesis and base composition of messender-RNA in adenovirus infected KB-cells has been studied. KB-cells infected with Adnovirus type 2 do not carry out viral synthesis when low concentrations of Actinomycin are present in the medium. The whole period from the time of infection up to the 16th hour after infection is sensitive to the inhibitor. During various intervals after infection, pulse labelled RNA was investigated for its base composition. During the course of viral synthesis kinds of RNA which show a transient tendency to match Adenovirus-DNA in its base composition appear. It is proposed that this type of RNA is messenger-RNA due to its sensitivity to Actinomycin and its base composition.
