XXII. A Non-recording microphotometer with variable contrast sensitivity

Abstract
A Hilger measuring microscope has been converted into a non-recording microphotometer capable of measuring the positions of broad lines to 1 μ and measuring line intensities. For the measurement of line intensities the electrical circuits are so adjusted that the response of the instrument is linear. When the position of a broad line is to be accurately measured, the constants of the circuit can be quickly adjusted so that the peak of the line is much exaggerated, thus greatly reducing its apparent width.
