Excited Levels inTi48

Abstract

Excited levels of ${\mathrm{Ti}}^{48}$ have been investigated by means of the radioactive decays of ${\mathrm{V}}^{48}$ and of ${\mathrm{Sc}}^{48}$. The intensity of a 2.29-Mev gamma-transition in ${\mathrm{Ti}}^{48}$ relative to the total number of ${\mathrm{V}}^{48}$ and ${\mathrm{Sc}}^{48}$ disintegrations is found to be different for the two decays. This evidence that the 2.29-Mev transition in ${\mathrm{Ti}}^{48}$ is not a crossover is further substantiated by delayed-coincidence measurements and lifetime considerations.
