Abstract
The establishment of callus tissue of T. cacao and the maintenance and subculture of callus infected with O. theobromae are discussed. Moniloid hyphae were produced, but these did not give rise to basidia under laboratory conditions. Stimuli inducing basidia formation are unknown at present. A regular supply of basidiospores is needed for rapid resistance screening.
