ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF STREPTOMYCES FLORIDAE AND OF VIOMYCIN

Abstract
Both cultures of Streptomyces floridae and viomycin sulfate derived from them showed antibacterial activity against various organisms, notably Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv. Certain fungi, protozoa and viruses were not susceptible. Streptomycin-resistant strains were still susceptible and viomycin-resistance was slower in development than streptomycin-resistance.
