Abstract
Calculations based on the Partovi-Lomon meson-exchange model for the nucleon-nucleon interaction have been performed to ascertain the validity of various approximations made by those authors. Their approximations include locality, a prescription for removing explicit energy dependence, and further numerical approximations. The separate effects of energy dependence and nonlocality appear to be significant even at relatively long ranges and lead to significant discrepancies in, for example, the effective S01 two-body potential and phase shifts. The energy dependence of the effective interaction is exhibited.
