Familial Breast Cancer, Soft-Tissue Sarcomas, and Other Neoplasms

Abstract
In 1969, we described in 4 families (A through D) a syndrome of soft-tissue sarcomas, breast cancer, and other neoplasms affecting children and young adults (1). We present the findings on follow-up of families A, B, and C. Family D has been lost to contact. During the past 7 years, 8 of approximately 50 surviving members of the three families have been diagnosed with new malignancies. In Family C breast cancer developed in both sisters of a pair of male siblings with childhood sarcoma (Figure 1). Patient IV-3 had adenocarcinoma of the right breast at age 32 years, while patient
