Abstract
Analysis of the arterial and mammary venous blood of lactating and non-lactating cows showed that the phosphatide theory of milk fat secretion cannot bo substantiated. The relative estimates of the requirements of the active mammary gland for sugar and inorganic P showed close agreement. Lactation demands a high level of all blood lipids, and the progress of lactation is accompanied by a fall to lower levels which is most marked when the non-lactating period intervenes. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
