Abstract
Literature data, as well as some new data, are used to suggest that the initial cure of poly(4,4′-oxydiphenylpyromellitamie acid) proceeds through transimidization rather than cyclization. Elevated temperature annealing, subsequent to cure, provides enough energy to surmount steric barriers, so that some of the trans imide then undergoes cyclization. Keywords
