Abstract
The decay ηπe+e through a C-conserving, two-photon intermediate state is studied in a vector-meson-dominant model. The branching ratio Γ(ηπe+e)Γ(ηπγγ) is found to be ≈105. If, in addition, a quark model is assumed for the photon-pseudoscalar-vector-meson vertex, we obtain a value of 1.3×105 eV for the decay width of ηπe+e. General features of the decay spectrum with respect to the sum and difference of the electron and positron energies in the η rest frame are discussed.
