Abstract
Phytophthora cinnamomi Rands causes production losses and threatens future yields from the jarrah forest. No means of eradicating the pathogen are foreseeable. Action to maintain production and reduce timber losses involves slowing down the rate of spread of the disease by planned, concentrated logging, efficient salvage and hygiene measures. Infected areas are being planted with tolerant species to restore them to a high level of production. Uninfected jarrah stands of high growth potential are being treated to maximise production of high quality timber and reduce susceptibility to infection. Research and education are integral parts of this management programme. Keywords
