Abstract
Transcription of ResDE-controlled genes in Bacillus subtilis was induced by sodium nitroprusside and nitric oxide. This induction requires the sensor kinase ResE and the response regulator ResD. Among members of the ResDE regulon, only the flavohemoglobin gene was induced by nitrosative stress via both a ResDE-dependent mechanism and an unidentified ResDE-independent mechanism. Keywords
