Abstract
A solution of the vorticity equation is obtained for a wave pattern changing with time. It is shown that such a wave pattern is necessarily associated with ridge and trough lines which do not run in the south-north direction.DOI: 10.1111/j.2153-3490.1949.tb01275.xKeywords
