General correlation of e.s.r. data for F-centres. Identification of an F-centre in sodium cyanide

Abstract
One of the paramagnetic centres formed in gamma-irradiated sodium cyanide gives rise to a multi-component e.s.r. spectrum which is assigned to an F-centre. Justification for this is based on an empirical correlation connecting the apparent spin density of the F-electron on the six nearest cations, with a function of the lattice parameter and the atom radii of the cations. Possible implications of this correlation are discussed.
