Mikrohydrierung und polarographische Charakterisierung von Biopterin

Abstract
Comparative studies at the [mu] mole level showed that the reduction of biopterin to 5, 6, 7, 8-tetra-hydrobiopterin is optimal with Pd/H2 in 0. 1N HC1. Zinc/HCl or borohydride gave only a partial reduction. A good reduction was also obtained with dithionite. A suitable apparatus for the microhydrogenation and a chromatographic method for measuring the yield by the use of C14 -labelled biopterin are described. The polarographic half wave potentials of biopterin, 7, 8-dihydrobiopterin, and 5, 6, 7, 8-tetrahydro-biopterin were compared with those of a number of cofactors that are active in biological electron transport.
