THE DAILY EXCRETION OF URINARY ANDROGENS IN NORMAL CHILDREN1

Abstract
A study of the daily urinary excretion of androgens with a colorimetric method in boys and girls of varying age groups shows: there is a definite, but physiologically insignificant, variation in androgen excretion from day to day; there is no evidence of a cyclic excretion; the excretion varies directly with increasing chronological age and physical maturity; the excretion in [male][male] is slightly higher than in [female][female] of the same age and size. The androgen assay of a 24-hr. specimen should yield significant information in studies of endocrine abnormalities of childhood.
