Absorption Spectra of Manganese and Silver in the Schumann Region

Abstract

A method has been developed for observing absorption spectra of high melting point materials in the Schumann region. The absorption spectra of manganese and silver have been investigated in the region between $\lambda 800\mathrm{A}$ and $\lambda 1930\mathrm{A}$. Many new lines in MnI have been observed and it has been possible to link some of these with known levels in the Mn atom. A new sequence of terms, the $d^9\mathrm{snp}{}_{}{}^6{}_{}{}^{}P_{}^0{}_{}{}^{}$, has been found in AgI.
