Abstract
In a laboratory study, Xylocoris flavipes (Reuter) attacked eggs and larvae of Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier) but killed more early instars. The predator killed more prey as exposure time and density of prey increased. In a separate laboratory test, X. flavipes effectively reduced populations of Angoumois grain moths in small quantities of grain. The predator reduced the amount of damage to the grain because it killed the prey before it entered the grain.
