Absorption by Ozone in the 475-Micron Region of the Solar Spectrum

Abstract
Solar spectra in the region of the 4.75-μ ozone band have been obtained on a new high-resolution grating spectrometer. By comparing the solar spectrum with a laboratory spectrum of this O3 band, almost 300 O3 lines have been identified in the solar spectrum. This region of the solar spectrum also contains lines of H2O, CO, and CO2, which greatly perturb the appearance of the O3 band in the solar spectrum.
