Test of the Veneziano-typeπNNform factor

Abstract

We have investigated Dominguez's Veneziano-type $\pi \mathrm{NN}$ form factor by attempting to use it to fit $\frac{d\sigma }{\mathrm{dt}}$ data for $\mathrm{np}\to \mathrm{pn}$ and $\overline{p}p\to \overline{n}n$ at 8 and 23.5 GeV/c in the interval $0<-t<\mathrm{}0.1\mathrm{}$ Ge${\mathrm{V}}^2$. With $n=\frac{5}{2}$ as proposed by Dominguez it is not possible to fit the data. A fit can be obtained for other values of $n$.
