Weak couplings of heavy quarks

Abstract
Formulas relating the transition matrix elements involving the charmed quark, Ucd, Ucs, and Ucb, to experimental data are given. For illustration the existing data are used to estimate or bound |Uij|. With additional assumption of six quark flavors, Uij can be related to Kobayashi-Maskawa angles (θ1, θ2, θ3, δ), and the allowed regions in a sinθ2sinθ3 plane are exhibited. When combined with the constraints from the K0K¯0 system, an accurate determination of Ucs is shown to lead to unique values for (θi, δ).
