Abstract
Complete matrices have been calculated for the configuration d2, when both a trigonal crystal field and spin–orbit coupling are present. In particular a value has been found for the trigonal field parameter, which gives the previously reported experimental value for the splitting of the ground state of vanadium corundum, Al2O3(V3+).Keywords
