Abstract
A case of Candida albicans meningitis successfully treated with amphotericin B is presented. A review of the literature revealed an additional 26 acceptable patients with Candida meningitis, 5 of these received treatment with amphotericin B. Systemic candidiasis and meningitis often occurs in the setting of extensive chemotherapy for associated bacterial infection, malignant disease, or other debilitating conditions. The clinical and laboratory findings, while characteristic of fungal infections of the meninges, are not pathognomonic. Therapy with amphotericin B is recommended. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
