Tuberculous Cervical Lymphadenitis

Abstract
Twenty-two cases of tuberculous cervical lymphadenitis occurred over a ten-year period. Ninety percent (20) had an enlarging neck mass, and 10% (2) had a draining sinus tract. None of the patients had evidence of active pulmonary tuberculosis. The two most valuable indications for cervical tuberculosis were purified protein derivative skin testing and biopsy of the neck mass. Treatment consisted of antituberculous drugs for a period of 18 to 24 months. No relapse occurred, and no further surgery was required.
