Effect of Sesamin and Related Compounds on the Insecticidal Action of Pyrethrum on Houseflies

Abstract
Toxicity tests were made of the available compounds related to sesamin with respect to their synergistic effect on pyrethrins. The isosesamin and asarinin were at least as effective as sesamin; pinoresinol, pinoresinol dimethyl ether and diacetyl pinoresinol were without appreciable action. The nature of the substituents on the benzene ring seems to be the determining factor in the synergistic action of this class of compounds.
