Biochemische Vorgänge bei der Erythrocytenreifung: Über einen Hemmstoff des Succinatoxydase-Systems in Reticulocyten

Abstract
Anemia was induced in rabbits by repeated bleeding. In the early stages (4 days) of the treatment, hemoly-sates from the anemic animals show a higher succinoxidase activity than those of normal animals; after longer periods (20 days) the succinoxidase activity sinks to 10% of the controls. The succinoxidase activity of these hemolysates is very labile in the absence of succinate; in the presence of substrate however, the activity is stable. The succinoxidase of hemolysates from anemic animals is greatly increased by raising the pH; the activity is also increased by phosphate. It was shown that these effects are caused by an inhibitor which is non-dialyzable and heat-labile. The inhibitor could be precipitated by ammonium sulfate: one-half was present in the fraction precipitated between 0.33 and 0.5 saturation with ammonium sulfate.
