Abstract
The kinetics of atom recombination by homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction are examined. The analysis includes the combined effects of first‐order surface reaction and third‐order gas‐phase reaction in a system undergoing diffusive and convective flow. On the basis of this model the rate constants for the homogeneous rate of recombination of oxygen atoms and of hydrogen atoms are derived from published experimental measurements. Keywords
