Abstract
The requirements for an ignited D-T plasma in a Linear Magnetic Fusion (LMF) reactor are examined subject to the constraints of axial particle/energy loss and self-consistent alpha-particle heating. Indications that LMF systems with material endplugs will require B2ℓ products > 106 (T2 m) are presented as a motivation for pursuing the investigation of the closed (racetrack) configuration. Keywords
