Further Evidence for Antibodies of Third Order: Fractionation of Agglutinins, Blocking Antibodies and Cryptagglutinoids by Physicochemical Methods

Abstract
Further evidence of 3 orders of reactivity of Rh antibodies is presented from the physicochemical separation of serum proteins into albumin, euglobulin, alpha, beta and gamma globulins. Separation of agglutinins, blocking antibodies and cryptagglutinoids from anti-Rh (CD) human serum by physical and chemical fractionation is described. Evidence of the heterogeneity of Rh antibodies of a given specificity (C+D) is presented. These antibody fractions are further characterized by their serologic as well as electrophoretic patterns. The method of Reid and Jones using ion-exchange resins was employed in the fractionation process.
