Use of Prenatal Cytogenetic Diagnosis in New York State

Abstract
Since 1975, when the National Institutes of Health announced the safety and efficacy of prenatal diagnosis,1 there has been a marked increase in the use of this procedure. Here we review such use in New York State. To our knowledge, this is the first such estimate for a heavily populated civil jurisdiction in which use can be analyzed by geographical area.
